18-year old boy impregnates 10 girls in Nigeria's Anambra state
In a video shared on social media, Commissioner Obinabo expressed concern over the situation, stating that the case was brought to her office on Tuesday and that it has spiraled beyond what she can handle alone.
An alarming case in Anambra State has caught the attention of the Commissioner for Women’s Affairs and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, after it emerged that an 18-year-old boy allegedly impregnated at least 10 girls, including his former boss’s daughter and a salesgirl.
In a video shared on social media, Commissioner Obinabo expressed concern over the situation, stating that the case was brought to her office on Tuesday and that it has spiraled beyond what she can handle alone.
According to her, the teenager had been enrolled in an apprenticeship program, but just three months in, he impregnated both his master's daughter and his shop assistant, leading to his dismissal. Shockingly, within two months of returning to his village, he reportedly impregnated an additional eight girls.
Obinabo said the number of pregnancies involved and the boy’s young age made the case especially troubling. She questioned whether there might be a deeper spiritual or psychological issue at play, noting that the matter might require intervention beyond conventional social support.
The story has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many Nigerians calling for the involvement of health professionals, counselors, and spiritual leaders to address both the individual case and broader concerns about adolescent behavior, sexual health education, and community accountability.
