Ghana’s Revenue Authority says it has interdicted five officers from its Customs Division while it investigates suspected breaches in transit cargo procedures.

In a statement, the GRA said the interdictions took immediate effect following preliminary findings from an enforcement operation carried out on 18 February 2026.

The operation involved transit goods declared for onward movement to Niger, but officials said checks raised concerns over documentation and compliance with established processes.

The Authority said the irregularities have triggered an internal investigation to establish what happened and whether customs protocols were ignored.

It said the inquiry would examine the role of each officer involved and determine if there were departures from standard procedures. The GRA added that the scope of the probe could expand, with other officers potentially called in to assist investigators.

At the end of the process, the Authority said it would take administrative action where necessary, in line with the law.

The GRA said the move was aimed at protecting national revenue and maintaining confidence in customs enforcement, adding that it remained committed to professionalism and accountability in revenue mobilisation.
