The Ministry of the Interior has announced a curfew in Nkwanta Township, located in the Oti Region.

According to the Ministry, the decision was made based on recommendations from the Oti Regional Security Council and enforced through an Executive Instrument.

A press statement, signed by the Ministry’s Chief Director on Tuesday, January 21, confirmed that the curfew would take effect from Tuesday, January 21, 2025, with restricted movement between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

The statement further urged residents to remain calm and resolve disputes through the appropriate legal channels.

Additionally, a complete ban has been placed on the possession of firearms, ammunition, and other offensive weapons within Nkwanta Township and surrounding areas.

"Anyone caught in possession of weapons will face arrest and prosecution," the statement warned.
