983 candidates fail Nigeria’s May 2026 Bar Exam resit
The notice was shared on Monday after the results were approved at the Council’s Third Quarter Hybrid Meeting held on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
The Council of Legal Education in Nigeria says 983 candidates failed the May 2026 Bar Final Resit Examination.
The figure represents 54.7 per cent of candidates who sat for the examination.
The Council disclosed this in a public notice signed by its Secretary and Director of Administration, Aderonke O. Osho.
The notice was shared on Monday after the results were approved at the Council’s Third Quarter Hybrid Meeting held on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
According to the Council, a total of 1,955 candidates sat for the examination.
Out of that number, 885 candidates passed, while 55 candidates obtained conditional passes.
The Council said 983 candidates failed to meet the prescribed pass mark.
It also disclosed that 32 candidates were absent, while the results of 19 candidates were withheld.
“The results recorded an overall pass rate of 45.3 per cent. 54.7 per cent of the candidates did not attain the prescribed pass mark,” the Council stated.
The Council warned prospective students to avoid unaccredited institutions.
