Chief Justice launches software to manage GSL entrance, professional exams
The software, which comprises a website and examination portal, consolidates all exam-related activities under the IEC and aims to improve the management and administration of these exams.
The Chief Justice, Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo has introduced a new software to assist the Independent Examination Committee (IEC) of the General Legal Council (GLC) in its management and administration of law exams.
The software, which comprises a website and examination portal, consolidates all exam-related activities under the IEC and aims to improve the management and administration of these exams.
Again, it will allow prospective law students to purchase examination vouchers, register for the entrance exam, and check their admission status with ease.
Furthermore, the platform will perform all exam-related tasks, including payment and registration for exams and resits, checking results, applying for remarking, and retallying results.
Additionally, it will aid the IEC to randomly assign examination scripts to examiners and moderators, thereby eliminating direct human involvement in these processes.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Justice Torkornoo praised the new software as a significant advancement for legal education, highlighting its role in enhancing IEC operations, improving exam management, and upholding standards and integrity in legal education.
Also, Justice Prof. Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu, who is Supreme Court Justice and Chairperson of the IEC, noted that this software is part of broader reforms aimed at modernizing the committee’s operations, strengthening its administrative system, and enhancing oversight functions outsourced to external entities.
On his part, the Director of Legal Education, Barimah Yaw Kodie Oppong, mentioned that the new software will underscore the transparency and merit-based nature of the admission process into the Ghana School of Law and the call to the Bar.
