Pastor William Gyimah, the General Overseer of Elohim International Ministry, has been remanded into police custody by the Adenta Circuit Court over a video said to contain false and threatening remarks about Vice-President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

The order was made on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, by Her Honour Angela Attachie, who directed that the accused remain in custody and return to court on 13 April.

Prosecutors say the case arises from a viral clip circulated on platforms including TikTok, in which Gyimah allegedly made statements targeting the Vice-President. On that basis, the state brought two charges against him: false communication under the Electronic Communications Act and publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm under the Criminal and Other Offences Act.

The prosecution asked the court to remand him to allow investigators to complete their work, and the court granted that request after hearing the state’s application.

Gyimah had been arrested a day earlier by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team. Police said the 49-year-old was picked up during an operation in Kasoa in the Central Region on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
