DVLA suspends roadside fines pending further engagement

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced an immediate suspension of all fines imposed by its Compliance Team on roads across Ghana. The directive, which takes effect from Wednesday, October 15, 2025, will remain in force until further notice.
According to the Authority, the decision follows weeks of heightened enforcement activity by the Compliance Team aimed at ensuring that both drivers and vehicles fully complied with Ghana’s road traffic regulations.
However, after receiving extensive public feedback and conducting internal consultations, the DVLA has opted to pause the exercise to make room for a broader stakeholder dialogue.
In a statement released on October 14, the Authority reaffirmed its commitment to road safety but acknowledged the need for enhanced public awareness regarding the obligations and penalties associated with non-compliance.
The DVLA indicated that the temporary halt aims to foster constructive discussions before resuming enforcement in a more collaborative manner. In the meantime, all motorists and vehicle owners are urged to continue observing existing road safety regulations and licensing requirements.
