Farmer jailed 96 months over Adansi Odumasi mining site attack
Afrifa Adu Kofi, 34, was convicted by the Obuasi Circuit Court after pleading guilty to causing harm to three people during the incident at Adansi Odumasi.
A farmer who joined others to attack workers at a mining site near Obuasi has been sentenced to 96 months in prison with hard labour.

The court, presided over by Isaac Appiatu, also sentenced him to 36 months for possessing a pump-action gun without lawful authority.
Both sentences will run at the same time.
The attack happened on May 31, 2026, at about 11:30am.
According to the prosecution, Afrifa and other suspects, who are still on the run, went to the mining site armed with cutlasses, sticks and a gun.
They attacked four workers: Mohammed Abdulai, Halidu Seidu, Nasaratu Fuseini and Stephen Otoo.
The victims sustained various injuries and were taken to the AngloGold Ashanti Hospital.
Halidu Seidu was later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Afrifa faced five charges, including four counts of causing harm and one count of possessing a firearm without a licence.
He was convicted on three counts involving Mohammed Abdulai, Halidu Seidu and Nasaratu Fuseini.
The court returned a not guilty verdict on the count involving Stephen Otoo.
The prosecution said Afrifa admitted in his caution statement that he attacked the victims with a cutlass and shot Mohammed Abdulai with a pump-action gun.
He was unable to produce documents covering the firearm when police requested them.
Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects.
