Four granted bail in Accra jewellery robbery case

An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to four men accused in connection with a jewellery shop robbery in which gold worth GH¢2 million was allegedly stolen.

Those admitted to bail are Musa Abdul Aziz Mamoud, also known as Justin Major Lamar, Donatus Kwame Donkor, Edgar Donkor and Louis Edem Agbekey.

Mamoud and Donatus Donkor are facing charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery, while Mamoud is also charged with causing unlawful damage. Edgar Donkor and Agbekey have been charged with dishonestly receiving stolen property, together with a fifth suspect, Clement Baffour, who is currently at large.

All four men before the court pleaded not guilty.

The court, presided over by Emmanuella Sarah Asmah, granted Mamoud, Donatus Donkor and Edgar Donkor bail in the sum of GH¢2 million each with three sureties, two of whom must justify with landed property within the court’s jurisdiction. They are also required to deposit their passports and Ghana Cards with the court registry and report to police every Monday.

Agbekey was granted bail of GH¢1 million with three sureties, two to be justified with landed property, and must also report to police every Monday.

The case has been adjourned to 28 May 2026.
