Gary Glitter to pay £508,000 damages for sexual abuse
A High Court judge determined that Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, inflicted "the most serious kind" of sexual abuse on the claimant.
Gary Glitter, a convicted sex offender, has been mandated to pay over £500,000 to a victim he abused when she was 12 years old.
A High Court judge determined that Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, inflicted "the most serious kind" of sexual abuse on the claimant.
The woman filed her claim following Glitter's 2015 conviction for abusing her and two other minors between 1975 and 1980.
Glitter, a pop star, was sentenced to 16 years in prison and released in February last year after serving half his term.
However, he was re-imprisoned six weeks later for breaching his license conditions, reportedly by attempting to view downloaded images of children.
In the ruling released on Tuesday, High Court judge Mrs. Justice Tipples awarded the woman £508,800 in damages.
The compensation Glitter must pay includes £381,000 for lost earnings and £7,800 for future therapy and treatment.
