The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has issued a warning to the public regarding misleading social media posts falsely suggesting that unclaimed baggage at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) is available for purchase.
These fraudulent advertisements, predominantly found on Facebook, claim that abandoned luggage is being sold at an unusually low price of GHS 32, raising concerns about potential scams.
GACL noted that similar false claims first emerged in October 2024, prompting the company to release a disclaimer. Despite these warnings, scammers have revived the scheme, attempting to deceive unsuspecting individuals once again.
The airport management emphasized that all official announcements are made solely through its verified social media platforms. It also clarified that no external parties have been authorized to share such information on its behalf.
GACL urged the public to remain vigilant, disregard any unofficial claims regarding baggage sales, and report suspicious activities to help safeguard travelers and airport users.
