Ghana School of Law, Columbia Law complete maiden National Security Law program
The five-day programme, hosted at Columbia Law School’s Jerome Greene Hall in New York City, comprised eight faculty-led sessions focused on national security legal frameworks, strategic decision-making, emerging threats, global policy developments and interdisciplinary responses to contemporary security challenges.
The Ghana School of Law has concluded its first international executive education programme in national security law, marking a major expansion of its global academic partnerships.
Organised in collaboration with Columbia Law School, New York, the Executive National Security Law Training Programme brought together legal practitioners, members of the judiciary, national security personnel and senior public sector officials from 8 to 12 June 2026.
The five-day programme, hosted at Columbia Law School’s Jerome Greene Hall in New York City, comprised eight faculty-led sessions focused on national security legal frameworks, strategic decision-making, emerging threats, global policy developments and interdisciplinary responses to contemporary security challenges.
Participants also took part in orientation and networking sessions, institutional engagements and a guided tour of Columbia University’s campus. The programme ended with a closing reception and the formal presentation of certificates of participation.
Professor Raymond Atuguba, Director of Legal Education at the Council for Legal Education and Training and the Ghana School of Law, attended key networking activities and presided over the certificate presentation.
General Emmanuel Kotia was also present at the closing ceremony, highlighting the programme’s emphasis on collaboration and capacity-building across Ghana’s legal, governance and national security institutions.
The initiative represents one of the Ghana School of Law’s most significant international academic collaborations and is expected to establish the foundation for a long-term partnership with Columbia Law School.
The two institutions are anticipated to expand the collaboration through future executive education programmes, faculty exchanges, joint research and other institutional initiatives.
The Ghana School of Law expressed appreciation to Columbia Law School, the participating faculty and guest lecturers, the coordinating teams from both institutions and the programme’s participants for contributing to the success of the inaugural initiative.
