The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has announced the lifting of the curfew on Walewale and surrounding communities in the North East Region, with immediate effect.

The decision, taken on the advice of the North East Regional Security Council (REGSEC), follows marked improvements in the area’s security situation and the demonstrated commitment of local leaders and residents to maintain peace.

Government expressed appreciation to chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents of Walewale for their cooperation during the curfew period. It further encouraged stakeholders to continue resolving disputes through dialogue and non-violent means.

Meanwhile, security agencies have assured that they will continue to closely monitor developments in the area to safeguard the gains made and ensure lasting peace.
