High Court grants Abu Trica GH¢30m bail in extradition case
The court ordered that he produce two justified sureties as part of the bail conditions.
Frederick Kumi, widely known as Abu Trica, has been granted bail of GH¢30 million by the High Court in Accra as he continues to fight extradition to the United States over alleged romance fraud.
The court ordered that he produce two justified sureties as part of the bail conditions.
Justice Halimah El-Alawah Abdul-Baasit also directed him to hand over all travel documents, including but not limited to his passport, to the court registry.
In addition, he must report to the Criminal Investigations Department every other day until the court determines a pending habeas corpus application filed on his behalf.
The ruling came after his lawyers argued for bail on Tuesday. Prosecutors opposed the request, but the court admitted him to bail nonetheless.
Abu Trica remains at the centre of extradition proceedings tied to allegations from the United States that he was involved in a romance scam scheme.
