The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has directed an immediate investigation into claims that some police officers in Kibi were involved in the unauthorised withdrawal of GH¢400,000 from the account of a mobile money vendor.

The directive comes after a viral video circulating on social media raised allegations about the suspected withdrawal from the agent’s mobile money wallet.

In a statement, the Ghana Police Service said the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has been tasked to conduct a full inquiry into the matter.

According to the statement, the PPSB will examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged transaction and determine whether any police personnel played a role in it.

Police also confirmed that the mobile money agent at the centre of the allegation has been contacted and is cooperating with investigators.

The case has attracted significant public attention online, with calls for authorities to establish the facts and ensure accountability.

The Police Service has assured the public that the investigation will follow strict professional procedures, adding that the findings will be made public once the inquiry is completed.

The Police Professional Standards Bureau is the internal unit responsible for probing misconduct allegations against officers and ensuring discipline within the service.
