Judicial Service staff admonished to shun acts that undermine Justice delivery

Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo has admonished staff of the Judicial Service to uphold the integrity of justice, especially as the nation approaches a critical election year.
She stressed that any lapses in justice delivery could threaten the stability of the country.
Her Ladyship made this call at a brief ceremony to mark the official start of the 67th Legal Year.

She reminded the audience of the judiciary’s unique position as the only non-political branch of government, emphasizing the importance of maintaining impartiality and integrity.
Justice Torkornoo called for collective responsibility, urging the judiciary to safeguard Ghana’s peace, security, and prosperity.
The event, held last Saturday, was preceded by a special church service at the Most Holy Trinity Cathedral in Accra to mark the beginning of the 2024/2025 legal year, under the theme: "Building the pillars of justice delivery through leadership, innovation, and technology."
The Chief Justice further announced that the courts' digitalization efforts would continue in the coming year. She highlighted the importance of leadership, innovation, and technology in enhancing justice delivery, promising that the Judicial Service would advance virtual court systems and other electronic processes, solidifying an e-justice framework.
On his part, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, emphasized the critical role of justice in ensuring a peaceful election. He urged those involved in the justice system to remain impartial and to ensure that all voters, regardless of background, are treated fairly.
