The Junior Doctors’ Association of Ghana (JDA-GH) has announced the suspension of its planned nationwide strike, following productive engagements with the Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders.

In a statement issued on October 6, 2025, the association said the decision was taken as a gesture of goodwill and in the interest of uninterrupted healthcare delivery across the country.

“The suspension allows the government the opportunity to implement its commitments,” the statement read, adding that the association expects swift action on the issues discussed.

The JDA-GH cautioned, however, that it will closely monitor progress and will not hesitate to resume industrial action should the government fail to meet agreed timelines.

“Should there be delays or failure to honour the agreed timelines, the JDA-GH will have no option but to reinstate industrial action without notice,” it warned.

The association reaffirmed its dedication to delivering quality healthcare to Ghanaians but underscored that the welfare and dignity of junior doctors remain non-negotiable.

“We remain committed to the health of Ghanaians, but stress that the welfare and dignity of junior doctors cannot be compromised,” the statement concluded.

The JDA-GH also expressed appreciation to stakeholders, the public, and the media for their support and understanding throughout the negotiation period.
