A 45-year-old driver, Albert Cobbina, suspected of murdering his wife, has been remanded into police custody by the Asante Akropong District Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District.

The accused’s plea was not taken, and he is scheduled to reappear before the court, presided over by Emmanuel Wiafe Adu, on September 15, 2025.

According to Chief Inspector David Kwabi, the suspect and his late wife, Grace Asantewaa, lived together at Fankyenebra near Santasi in Kumasi. On August 24, 2025, Cobbina allegedly reported to the Suntreso Police that his wife had been discovered in a pool of blood with a kitchen knife beside her.

He told officers that he rushed her to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where she was declared dead upon arrival. However, investigators noted inconsistencies in his account, raising suspicion of foul play.

Following preliminary inquiries, Cobbina was charged in connection with his wife’s death and brought before the court, as police continue their investigations.
