A Circuit Court in Accra has granted bail to 33-year-old Roland Kweku Abotsi, who is facing several charges including conspiracy, unlawful entry, stealing and causing unlawful damage.
Abotsi, who is currently unemployed, appeared before His Honour Jojo Amoah Hagan on Thursday and pleaded not guilty.
He was granted bail set at GH¢200,000, with two sureties — one required to justify with landed property. The matter has been scheduled for December 2, 2025, for a case management conference.
Prosecutor Inspector Nego Dzigbordi told the court that the complainant, Noah Agbovie, a carpenter living at Wogbobu Avenue in Baatsonaa, left home early on October 10, 2025, after securing his room with two slide bolt locks and padlocks.
While he was at work, the prosecution alleges that Abotsi and an accomplice known only as Kingsley, who is currently on the run, forcibly broke the locks and entered the room.
A range of items were said to have been taken, including a 6kg gas cylinder, cooking utensils, electrical cables, a metal toolbox, a bubble level, a decoder, and GH¢135,000 in cash reportedly kept under the complainant’s bed.
According to the prosecution, two witnesses — Kaba Junior and another unnamed individual — spotted Abotsi and his accomplice carrying two white nylon sacks suspected to contain stolen property.
When confronted, Kingsley allegedly fled, leaving Abotsi to be apprehended and handed over to police at the Baatsonaa Divisional Command. The complainant later identified the recovered items as his.
In his cautioned statement, Abotsi denied the allegations, insisting that he had only met Kingsley — an old schoolmate — in the neighbourhood on the day of the incident, and claimed he had no knowledge of the break-in or where Kingsley lived.
Police say investigations are ongoing and efforts continue to locate the missing accomplice.
