Man jailed over theft of hard drives with unreleased Beyoncé music
Kelvin Evans, 41, admitted breaking into a Jeep Wagoneer rented by members of Beyoncé’s tour team in July 2025.
A man who stole hard drives containing unreleased Beyoncé music from a vehicle in Atlanta has been sentenced to two years in prison.
Kelvin Evans, 41, admitted breaking into a Jeep Wagoneer rented by members of Beyoncé’s tour team in July 2025.
The vehicle was being used by choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue as the singer’s Cowboy Carter tour arrived in Atlanta, Georgia.
Evans pleaded guilty to offences including entering an automobile and criminal trespass.
A judge also sentenced him to three years of probation.
The theft happened on July 8, 2025, shortly before Beyoncé began a four-night run at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Grant and Blue returned to the vehicle and found its rear window smashed.
Their luggage had been taken.
Among the stolen items were two MacBook laptops, Apple headphones, luxury clothes and accessories, and hard drives said to contain unreleased Beyoncé material.
Grant also told police that some of the stolen items contained personal sensitive information belonging to the singer.
Investigators have not recovered the hard drives or the other stolen belongings.
Court documents filed in Fulton County Superior Court show that Evans reached a plea agreement on Tuesday before his trial was due to begin.
The records also indicated that he had previous convictions.
During jury selection, prosecutors presented surveillance footage which they said showed a red Hyundai driven by Evans pulling up beside the rental car in a parking garage.
A second video allegedly showed the same vehicle arriving at an apartment complex, where Evans was seen handling suitcases believed to belong to Grant and Blue.
Prosecutors said tracking technology in the stolen laptops later placed the devices at the address seen in the footage.
Evans’ lawyer told the court his client hoped to rebuild his life and earn money lawfully.
As part of the sentence, Evans has been ordered to stay away from the victims and from the car park where the break-in happened.
He has been in custody since his arrest in August 2025.
He was indicted by a grand jury in October and initially pleaded not guilty in January.
According to reports, he had earlier rejected a similar plea deal in March.
