Gideon Kojo Elliam, a 37-year-old IT technician from Takoradi, has been sentenced to six months of hard labor by the Kaneshie District Court One for defrauding an auto mechanic of GH¢53,000.

Elliam deceived Mr. Daniel Odoi Otu, the complainant, into handing over the money under the false pretext of supplying him with an auto diagnostic machine. Despite assurances that the machine would be delivered by December 2023, Elliam failed to do so, and his attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.

During the trial, Elliam admitted to taking GH¢37,000 but contested the complainant’s claim of GH¢53,000. In response to the ruling, the Court advised Otu to seek civil action to recover the full amount once Elliam completes his sentence.

The Police Chief Inspector, Achana Apeweh, reported that Elliam was arrested at his hideout on April 1, 2025, after an investigation revealed he had used the money for personal purposes.
