Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has withdrawn a complaint against a TikTok creator known as Eedie Bliss, leading to the influencer’s release from police detention, Nigerian media report.

Eedie Bliss was freed on Saturday, 17 January 2026, after an online backlash over her detention gathered pace across social media platforms, according to the reports.

The decision came hours after the social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, criticised the actress and argued that defamation disputes are typically handled as civil matters.

VeryDarkMan later announced that the TikToker had been released, publicly thanking Mercy Johnson for ending the case and urging people to stop targeting her family online.

Eedie Bliss had been arrested over a TikTok video posted in December 2025 about Mercy Johnson and her husband, Prince Henry Okojie, the Daily Post reported. The video contained allegations about the couple which have not been proven in court.
