Deputy Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Clement Apaak, has warned that teaching and non-teaching staff implicated in examination malpractice will be dealt with under the law without exception.

His monitoring exercise took him to schools including Kumasi Academy (KUMACA), KNUST Senior High School, and St. Louis SHS, where he observed the examinations firsthand and interacted with officials.

Mr. Apaak was emphatic that offenders would be punished irrespective of their position or influence.

“Those individuals who have been caught will face the law and no one will intervene, no matter the consequences. It’s about time we bring sanity to our education system,” he declared.

He further described examination malpractice as a serious social ill undermining Ghana’s educational system.

“Examination malpractice is detrimental to our education and to the well-being of the students. There shouldn’t be any reason why anyone should condone it. It must be fought on all fronts. It is affecting the integrity of our education system globally and this calls for drastic measures to mitigate the canker,” he stressed.

This year’s heightened surveillance during WASSCE, he explained, reflects the government’s determination to restore trust in Ghana’s qualifications. His surprise visits, he noted, were aimed at reinforcing exam integrity and sending a strong signal that cheating will not be tolerated at any level.
