The Secretary to the Ofori Panin Stool and the Okyehene, Daniel Marfo Ofori-Atta has sued Political activist, Hopeson Adorye and the Media General Group for defamation, seeking GHC 10 million Ghana Cedis damages for allowing the former to use its platform to publish certain statements about him.

He is further praying the court to order the defendants to retract the statements.

According to the Writ of Summons signed by Bright Okyere-Adjekum of Adjekum and Company, the Media General hosted Hopeson Adorye on its TV station called ONUA TV on July 26, 2024, where he among others mentioned the plaintiff’s name as the author of the supposed ‘Agyapadie book’ and made several allegations imputing criminality on him, the Ofori Panin fie and Okyeman.

He thus states emphatically that he has never authored, co-authored, written, or provided a foreword or contributed to such a book.

Additionally, he states that the document in circulation is a propagandist piece and the matters contained and amplified by the 1st defendant are complete fabrications and have caused serious harm to his reputation, members of the Ofori Panin Fie, and all subjects of Okyeman.

He avers also that the defendant's conduct has generated a hate campaign against his person, Ofori Panin Fie, and the entire Okyeman and thus praying the court to restrain the defendants in that regard.
