Police arrest 23-year-old student for publishing obscene content online
Police say the content was traced to the handle @biggforddd123 and involved several women, with recordings said to span the period from 2023 to 26 January 2026.
A 23-year-old student, Nhyira Papa Kojo Egyir Hayford, has been arrested by the police cyber enforcement team over the alleged online publication of obscene material, after explicit videos linked to a public Snapchat account surfaced during a routine digital patrol.
Police say the content was traced to the handle @biggforddd123 and involved several women, with recordings said to span the period from 2023 to 26 January 2026. The case is being pursued under Section 280 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
According to investigators, Hayford admitted during questioning that he uploaded the videos on 25 February 2026, saying he did so in response to a social media trend referred to as the “Anti Shakira’s” TikTok challenge. Police also say he acknowledged recording another intimate video in 2023, which he claimed to have sold to a woman in the United States identified as Naya for $600, said to be about GH¢6,500 at the time.
Investigators also invited one of the women featured in the material to assist with enquiries. After the initial questioning, the suspect was transferred to the Special Investigation Unit of the CID Headquarters for further work on the case. He was later granted police enquiry bail while investigations continue.
The police have used the case to warn the public that publishing explicit or obscene material online remains a criminal offence, adding that cyber patrols will continue as part of efforts to keep digital platforms safer.
