Police arrest alleged operator of suspected brothel in Manso Watreso
Police identified the suspect as Esther Egbuhama and said she is believed to be the person behind the facility, known locally as Mama Nice Lodge.
A 28-year-old Nigerian woman has been arrested after police raided a location at Manso Watreso in the Ashanti Region which they suspect was being used as a brothel.
Police identified the suspect as Esther Egbuhama and said she is believed to be the person behind the facility, known locally as Mama Nice Lodge.
The operation was carried out by the Manso Nkwanta Police Command on Sunday, 19 April 2026, after intelligence suggested criminal activity was taking place at the premises.
By the time officers arrived, however, other people believed to be connected to the operation had already fled.
In a statement issued the following day, police said Egbuhama was taken into custody and transferred to the Manso Nkwanta Police Station, where she is assisting with investigations.
The Ashanti South Regional Police Command said the raid formed part of a broader effort to disrupt illegal activity in the area and warned that similar exercises would continue.
Police also reminded the public that operating a brothel is an offence under Section 277 of the Criminal Offences Act, as amended.
