Police recapture three Adabraka escapees, denies link to Sammy Gyamfi's inlaw case
In a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng of the Accra Regional Police Command, the police also pushed back against reports claiming that some of the escapees were connected to the murder case
The Ghana Police Service says three of the six inmates who escaped from custody at the Adabraka District Police Station have been arrested again, while efforts continue to trace the remaining three.
The escape happened on Sunday, 26 April, prompting what police described as immediate action to recover the fugitives and tighten security.
In a statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng of the Accra Regional Police Command, the police also pushed back against reports claiming that some of the escapees were connected to the murder case involving the father-in-law of GoldBod chief executive Sammy Gyamfi.
According to the command, that claim is false.
Police said the escapees were not being held at Adabraka in relation to that murder case and urged the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.
The command added that a full investigation has begun into how the inmates managed to flee from custody.
As part of the response, security at the station has been reinforced, while a broader manhunt remains underway for the three suspects still on the run.
Police are appealing to the public to volunteer any credible information that could help locate the remaining escapees, and say further updates will be issued as investigations continue.
