Police seize 209 suspected drug slabs, reject GH¢100,000 bribe
Officers said the suspects later offered GH¢100,000 in an attempt to avoid arrest, but the money was refused.
Police in the Central Region say they have arrested two men after seizing 209 compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be narcotics in Agona Swedru.
Officers said the suspects later offered GH¢100,000 in an attempt to avoid arrest, but the money was refused.
The Central Regional Police Command identified the men as Godfred Acquah, 28, and Awudu Usman, 34. They were arrested at about 08:30 on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, on the Agona Asafo–Kwesitwukwaa road.
Police said the first discovery was made after officers stopped a taxi, registration GR 2932-26, in which the two men were travelling.
A search of the vehicle, they said, uncovered 154 slabs hidden inside four nylon sacks.
Officers later carried out a follow-up search at a house in Asisim, a suburb of Agona Swedru, where they found 55 more slabs, taking the total to 209.
Police said Mr Usman claimed ownership of the items recovered from the house.
The suspects are expected to be taken to court to face charges as investigations continue.
