The Ghana Police Service has interdicted five officers after videos circulating online allegedly showed them engaging in conduct the Service says has tarnished its image.

The officers have now been referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau for investigation as the Service moves to determine the full circumstances of the incident and apply internal disciplinary measures where necessary.

Those affected are Chief Inspector Matthew Blay, Chief Inspector Francis Arthur, Inspector Eric Osei of the Osu Police Station, Sergeant Amos Dery of the National Protection Unit, and Inspector Joseph Okyere Asabre of the Obuasi Police District.

The action was announced in a statement issued on Monday, 4 May 2026, by the Police Public Affairs Directorate.

In the statement, signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Service said the step reflects its determination to enforce discipline within the ranks and protect public confidence in the institution.

The Police also assured the public that the matter would be thoroughly investigated and that further action would follow if the allegations are established.

Its message was that professionalism, integrity and accountability remain central to police work, and that officers whose conduct falls below those standards will be dealt with accordingly.
