President assents to Ghana Shippers’ Authority Act

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has signed the Ghana Shippers' Authority Act 2024, which Parliament passed on July 29, 2024.
The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) announced this development in a statement that highlighted the Act’s significance, particularly as it marks a milestone in the GSA's 50th year.
This legislation bolsters the GSA’s regulatory powers, creating a fair, efficient, and globally competitive shipping environment in Ghana.
Under the new Act, the GSA gains regulatory authority over all transportation modes—sea, air, and land—ensuring the shipping and logistics sectors operate fairly and transparently. This strengthened oversight aims to make Ghana a premier hub for international trade by enhancing price transparency and service integrity.
The GSA has initiated a national awareness campaign to support the law's objectives to educate industry stakeholders on their rights and obligations under the Act.
Additionally, the GSA is gathering feedback for the Legislative Instrument (L.I.) that will guide the law’s implementation, encouraging active participation from stakeholders to foster a collaborative approach.
Meanwhile, the GSA has expressed deep appreciation to everyone who contributed to this legislative achievement, viewing it as a foundation for a resilient, sustainable, and competitive shipping ecosystem in Ghana.
