The Ghana School of Law has officially welcomed Professor Raymond A. Atuguba as its Interim Director, succeeding Justice Nana Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, who led the institution as Director of Legal Education and Director of the School from 1st April 2022 to 31st August 2025.
On his first day in office, Prof. Atuguba held a maiden meeting with staff, where he reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the solid foundation laid by his predecessor and to further advancing the mission of legal education in Ghana.
Prof. Atuguba’s appointment is expected to bring fresh momentum to these reform discussions, given his track record as an academic leader and outspoken advocate for aligning Ghana’s legal framework with current global and domestic realities.
Prof. Atuguba, as dean of the University of Ghana School of Law, was credited with tripling the faculty size—from 20 to 150 lecturers—and more than tripling the student population from 600 to over 2,000.
Under his stewardship, construction began on a $25 million state-of-the-art legal complex, designed to elevate legal education and advance national development.
