Speaker Bagbin postpones resumption of parliament indefinitely
In an official notice issued from his office on Monday, October 6, the Speaker said the decision was necessitated by circumstances beyond his control.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced a postponement of the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic, which was originally scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
In an official notice issued from his office on Monday, October 6, the Speaker said the decision was necessitated by circumstances beyond his control.
“I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic is deferred until further notice due to circumstances beyond my control,” the statement read.
The correspondence, dated October 6, referenced a prior Notice to Summon Parliament dated September 29, which had initially fixed October 14 for the start of the new meeting.
Speaker Bagbin assured that a new date will be communicated once the prevailing issues are resolved, reaffirming Parliament’s commitment to its constitutional duties.
