A 27-year-old spiritualist has been arrested at Atiaa near Lamptey Mills in the Ga South Municipality over an alleged attempt to murder an 11-year-old girl for ritual purposes.

The suspect, identified only as C Prof, was apprehended by residents on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

He was allegedly seen dragging the girl towards an uncompleted building at about 6 p.m.

The building is also said to serve as the suspect’s shrine.

Residents reportedly became suspicious and intervened before the girl could be harmed.

They rescued the child, restrained the suspect and later handed him over to the authorities.

A search of the suspect’s belongings allegedly uncovered a bag containing suspected human skeletal remains.

The discovery has raised further concern among residents, although the identity and origin of the suspected remains have not yet been established.

It is also not yet clear how the suspect allegedly came into possession of them.

The incident has caused anxiety in the community, especially among parents and residents concerned about the safety of children in the area.

Police are expected to investigate the alleged attack, the use of the uncompleted building as a shrine and the suspected human remains reportedly found in the suspect’s possession.
