Former President Donald Trump issued an executive order extending TikTok's 75-day deadline to comply with a law requiring the platform to be sold or face a ban in the United States.

During this period, Trump announced that the enforcement of the law—passed by Congress last year and signed by then-President Joe Biden—will be temporarily halted.

The directive was part of a series of orders signed on Monday evening. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump remarked, "Every wealthy individual has been calling me about TikTok."

When asked about his shift in stance from 2020, when he initially sought to ban the platform, Trump responded, "Because I got to use it."

On Saturday, the popular video-sharing app, owned by Chinese tech firm ByteDance, was rendered inaccessible to U.S. users after a national security-related ban took effect. However, service was restored to its estimated 170 million American users after Trump indicated he would issue an order allowing the platform to continue operating.

ByteDance had previously defied legislation mandating the sale of its U.S. operations to avoid a ban. The Supreme Court upheld the law on Friday, leading to its enforcement on Sunday.

During his first term, Trump had been a vocal advocate for banning the app.

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew was among several tech executives—including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos—who attended Trump’s inauguration on Monday.

Earlier that day, YouTube personality MrBeast posted a TikTok video from what appeared to be a private jet, teasing an official bid to acquire the platform. Details of the offer remained vague, with the content creator simply describing it as "crazy."
