Assembly Members in Cape Coast have accused the Electoral Commission of superintending over a fraudulent election during the election of the Metropolitan Chief Executive nominee for the metropolis.
The nominee by President Akufo-Addo, Mr. Ernest Arthur had been rejected by the Assembly Members two times. He came into the election with his last chance to pull more than half of votes cast.
After the polls last weekend, it emerged that he had secured 45 out of 63 votes cast.
Unconfirmed reports by GhanaWeb indicate that an unidentified person managed to snatch some ballot papers which had more “No” votes and took to his heels, during counting.

Everything was messed up. We blame the EC for all this. We also saw the MP for Cape Coast South, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan also climbing up. He is not a candidate and has no voting rights”.
The security personnel at the election center also failed to apprehend the alleged perpetrator of the crime.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Members have demanded a swift probe into the matter.
