Who heads Greater Accra Bar?- Will it be a promotion or denial?

Once again, it is time for the Greater Accra Regional Bar to choose leaders to steer the wheels of the Association.

Voting is being done today, Wednesday, May 11 as part of its Annual Meeting and arrangement has duly been made for members to vote both in person and virtually.

As usual, various fine brains are on the bill to be considered via the ballot box for a mandate to contribute their quota to the running of the affairs of lawyers in the biggest Constituency of the Association.

One contest that many are looking out for is the presidency which Daniel Owusu-Nyampong and Agbesi Dzakpasu are battling out for.

DANIEL OWUSU-NYAMPONG

He served as Vice President of the Greater Accra Bar. In this capacity he contributed to the achievement of the following;

  • Introduction of Free CLE-for effective Training of Lawyers
  • Combining General meetings with free CLE sessions
  • The successful hosting of the GBA 2016 conference in the Greater Accra Region for the first time in 20 years.
  • Institution of the annual orientation program for newly enrolled members at the Greater Accra Region Bar
  • Introduction of annual general meetings of Heads of Chambers and Legal Departments
  • Corporate Social responsibility- Provision of PPEs for High Court and Tema General Hospital.
  • Regular maintenance of Lawyers Cafeteria and robing at the law court complex
  • Free Regional bar ID cards.

AGBESI DZAKPASU

He is currently the Board Chairman of Pensions alliance Trust and also serves on the Board of Media general Ghana Limited, owners of TV3 Network.

Agbesi also served previously on the Board of the Ghana Grid Company and was Company Secretary to the Board of the Ghana National Gas Company until February 2016.

He promises to be a new face and a new direction for the Greater Accra Bar Association.
