Allocation of public lands: Committee inaugurated to draft policy guidelines

The Lands Commission has inaugurated a nine-member Committee to draft policy guidelines on the acquisition of the public.

The Committee, which has a month to deliver on its mandate, will among other things define clearly the threshold for amicably dealing with matters of land.

It will additionally give effect to the satisfaction of clients by making recommendations in line with existing legislation.

Inaugurating the Committee at a brief ceremony in Accra, Chairman of the Lands Commission, Mr. Alex Quaynor indicated that even though the Commission per its mandate has managed several Public Lands nationwide, there is a need for the existing guidelines regulating the acquisition, allocation, and release of lands to be reviewed to meet current matters of land management and administration.

He, therefore, said that the Committee will look into developing policies in the acquisition, allocation, and release of public lands for the Commission’s implementation.

Commenting on the composition of the Committee, Mr. Dadson said that the members were selected based on their vast knowledge and expertise in the area of land administration.

The Committee members are; Mr. Kofi Dankwa as Chairman and Mrs. Cynthia Odametey as Secretary. Others are; Mrs. Mabel H. Yemidi, Alhaji Sulemana Mahama,  Mr. Oduro Kwarteng, Alhaji Habib Alhassan, Mr. Emmanuel Okyere, Mr. Jonathan S. Larbi, and Alhaji Abdul Hanan.
