The Executive Secretary to the President of Ghana, Nana Asante Bediatuo has refuted and denied allegations made against him by the founder and leader of the United Progressive Party(UPP), Kwasi Addai Odike relative to the former’s engagement in illegal mining.

A letter signed by Gary Nimako Marfo, counsel for Mr. Bediatuo notes that Mr. Odike is on record to have made some claims on Oyerepa FM to the effect that “Bediatuo of flagstaff house has brought people to Bosomefreho to engage in galamsey.”

It indicates however that the said publication is absolutely false and thus impresses on Mr. Odike to have taken steps to verify the authenticity of the information before publishing same in the public domain.

Additionally, counsel states that making such an allegation against his client, who is a senior Government Official clearly indicates that Mr. Odike carefully and deliberately made a calculated attempt to malign, cause public disaffection, injure the reputation and reduce his client’s reputation in the eyes of right thinking members of society.

Mr. Bediatuo per the letter is thus demanding an immediate retraction and apology for the malicious and defamatory publication within a week upon Mr. Odike’s receipt of the same.

It adds further that should Mr. Odike fail to do as stated supra, legal proceedings will be commenced against him to vindicate Mr. Bediatuo’s grievances.
