Private Legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has called for a review of the current bailiff system to enhance effective service and delivery of court processes.

He bemoaned the limited number of bailiffs and is thus calling for the inclusion of recent senior High School and university graduates to sour up the number for efficiency.

Speaking on the AM show on JoyNews, Lawyer Martin Kpebu added that the limited number of bailiffs causes delays in the filing and processing of cases.

Additionally, he averred that processes tend to be neglected if filed without payment.

On the contrary, the legal practitioner also said that even in instances where processes had been filed and paid for, there was still a need to follow up with the bailiff.

Moreover, he highlighted the challenge associated with the above, indicating that when follow-up is not done, and there is no proof of service at the court, it cannot do its business.

Mr Kpebu thus maintained that a review of the bailiff system would reduce the workload and lead to the creation of employment opportunities for young people.
