Some men suspected to be armed robbers have attacked the Member of Parliament for the Keta Constituency, Kwame Gakpey. This is the third time within the last few months the legislator has been attacked.

In his narration, Hon. Gakpey indicated that his brother had phoned him to assist a business center that was under attack.

When he arrived at the scene, the robbers quickly opened him on him, hitting his bonnet and damaging parts of his car.
He however managed to drive to the nearest police station, although the robbers managed to run away before the police arrived.

“They fired about four shots into my car; it is only by grace that I survived it…if it wasn’t for divine intervention, I won’t be alive today.

“Thankfully, the bullet went into my bonnet and the engine and damaged a few things. So I drove on to the nearest police station,” he said.

Meanwhile, a security man and some two others including the mother of the owner of the business center sustained various injuries.

The Police Service has announced that some five robbers had been arrested on Saturday night at Afiadenyigba in the Volta Region. It is presently unclear if they are connected to the attack on the MP and at the business center.
